Membership

UPDATE: we no longer meet as a group. Sorry! But if you want to take our lead, use
the information below to start your own group. As always, be careful, tell people
where you're going and when you expect to be back. Also, don't carry spray paint, you'll get busted for graffiti even if you don't do anything.

This looks like fun! Can I join?
Sure.
What do I have to do to become a member?
You can email us to be added to the group communication centers, which include a Facebook group and an email list for those who don't use Facebook. We recommend reading both because sometimes things may not make it from one source to the other. When you join us for your first venture with the group you have to sign a safety waiver.

A waiver? SRSLY?
Srsly. Basically it states that you are going on your own free will.
Are there dues?
Not for now, but if you go on a venture you have to chip in for gas money.
Typically, it's $5-10 bucks and the driver reserves to right to ask for more if needed.
Occasionally if we have a big group meeting we'll all toss in a few bucks for food.

Can I bring my kids?
Sorry, but everyone needs to be a consenting adult.

Can I bring my friends?
As long as they're over 18, sign a waiver, and pitch in for gas.
Just be sure to give enough advanced notice so we can plan transportation appropiately.
Do I need to bring anything?
When you sign up we'll send you a list of required items, and nice but not nessecary stuff.
After that, just bring yourself and a smile.

How do you decide where to visit?
Someone will post an idea to the Facebook or email group. They propose a date and if anyone wants to go, they just let that person know. Three days prior to the venture the "I wanna go" que is blocked off so carpooling and other details can be finalized. If there's any room left available, the trip planner will annouce it. If you can't make a trip, don't fret. Another group will probably be going soon.

What's a venture like?
A venture is planned by a trip leader. The trip leader will do the research on the place, propose the dates and times, and set the plans. Everyone will meet up at a central place, usually a fast food joint so everyone can eat and take a McWhiz while the trip leader goes over the plans. Everyone splits up to car pool and then roll out to the location. Afterwards, go back to the fast food join, eat some more, and head on home.

Do y'all Geocache?
We've had some members into that. If you want to while on a venture, okay.

Do y'all hunt ghosts or other paranormal activity?
We have some members who will do a bit of ghosthunting while on a venture but it's not a core value of the group. If you want to try to catch some EVPs or something, that's cool. If you're serious into the paranormal thing you migh consider joining another group.
We're basically a bunch of lookie-loos.

Do y'all hold regular meetings?
We'd love to but since we're scattered out amongst several states it's hard. We've been doing 2-3 meetings a year to map out plans and generally just socialize and it seems to work. We've also used Skype and Google Hangouts with good success.

Where y'all located?
Right behind you.
Most of us hail from an area ranging from Wheeling, WV to Athens, OH and as far south as Knoxville, TN. We've had some other folks wander in from time to time from further away.

Y'all seem unorganzied. We are and that's on purpose. We have a handful of rules, many of which were already mentioned. This allows us to focus on the fun stuff and not nitpicking on unimportant things.
